The Women’s Food Company is a pilot initiative to establish a catering service, operated by widows, for the culinary needs of the large pilgrim population to Mannar.

The catering service will ensure a solid financial base for vulnerable women, particularly those widowed by the war, fulfilling one of the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt & Reconciliation Commission.

The pilgrim population is in excess of 3 million visitors per annum to places like Thiruketheeswaram Hindu Kovil and Madhu Catholic Church. A trial catering service commenced in Madhu, Mannar District.
