We are inching closer to gaining approval for the construction of the donkey clinic and community education centre.
This initiative will deliver both animal welfare and village economic development outcomes. A formal Agreement was entered into between the land owner, the local council and Bridging Lanka (BL). This was a special moment of reconciliation. The land owner (Muslim), the council secretary (Catholic), the Bridging Lanka director (Christian/Buddhist) and two witnesses, one a Muslim cleric, the other a Hindu woman and passionate supporter, signed the agreement in front of the attorney at law (Catholic) - a magnificent moment of bridge-building and Bridging Lanka’s raison d’etre. The building application has been submitted to council and the long wait is on!
