Needed when: Between March and November each year
Duration: 1 month minimum
Background: Two significant events have compelled Bridging Lanka to cultivate organically – the 2022 economic crisis that raised the cost of vegetables by a staggering 400% making food basics unaffordable; and the high incidence of chronic kidney disease caused by agro-chemicals reacting with the heavy metal soils of the area and resulting in water with a high toxicity rate. Growing healthy organic fruit and vegetables became a no-brainer!
Role: We are looking for someone with experience in organic farming practices or of managing orchards.

- Identify what crop varieties would survive and thrive under local condition given local dry as well as flooding conditions
- Explore ways that poor struggling families could establish vertical gardens
- Work to create a 5 year sustainable plan for growing and managing crops
