Needed when:Now

Duration:1 month minimum

Background:Bridging Lanka opened a donkey clinic in June 2018 to rescue and treat injured and maltreated donkeys. Three years ago we established the Hendro Animal Rescue Centre (HARC) to respond to: (a) the explosion of dogs and cats on the streets of Mannar; (b) the significant numbers of dog bites recorded at local hospitals, and (c) the real threat of human acquired rabies. Our goal became a ‘Rabies-free’ Mannar District, starting with Mannar Island.

Role:We are looking for a qualified vet who could fulfil the role of treating the animals in addition to training the on-site staff and helping to raise awareness about animal welfare.

  • Treat donkeys, cats, dogs, cows and other animals. This includes operations and treatments such as open wounds, bites, broken limbs, sterilisation, vaccinations, pregnancy, etc
  • Assist to rescue, treat and vaccinate street puppies ready for rehoming
  • Train site staff in delivering basic treatments
  • Liaise with relevant government and private vet-related services
  • Ensure an efficient, effective and safe clinic workplace.
